Year 5’s Viking Day!

On Wednesday, Year 5 were lucky enough to have a Viking visit us for the day!

He was immensely engaging and knowledgeable and we all (including the staff!) learnt lots of new facts. We particularly enjoyed the artifacts that our guest brought in, really bringing the Viking period to life for us.

We used our new knowledge to compete a quiz, played a Viking board game, learnt LOADS of new facts (poo related ones being the favourites – and there were lots of these!) and tried our hands at following Viking combat commands. We even tried spear wrestling!

Mrs Herbert and Ms Rowley Jones were particularly impressed with how engaged in the day the children were; they put their hand up to offer ideas, volunteered for demonstrations and EVERYONE looked amazing in their outfits (thank you parents / guardians for this!)

Wednesday really got us excited about the Viking period and even more engaged to continue our learning on it for the rest of the term – well done Year 5.
