Year 2 have had a great few weeks learning all about explorative dance! We started off by learning what a dance story is and trying to remember all the techniques and terms we learnt last term!
The stimulus for the dance stories was shells. We talked about all the different types and all the different uses. Then the children got into groups and had to create a dance story all about shells.
Each group thought about interesting and imaginative ways to show being a shell, including dancing on each other’s backs to show animals that have a shell! Some were very expressive!
The children had to keep their story plot a secret as the following week, after a quick rehearsal, the children performed their dances to the other groups and the audience had to explain the story. Everyone worked really hard to stay in time and dance in unison!
Every group produced a great dance story!
