WRSPA Newsletter – Summer 2014

A warm welcome back to the final term of the academic year! Where has the time gone?

Firstly, we would like to thank you for helping with the events that the SPA has organised this year. We have been able to raise some fantastic amounts of money and this would not be possible without your support, so thank you.

Many of you enjoyed the fun at the recent 80’s night disco, where we danced the night away and saw stars from the past such as Boy George! Visit the website if you would like to see the pictures. Thank you again for supporting the event and making it such a success. The funds raised will go to helping your child’s education and enable the school to put on events that otherwise might not happen. An example of such days was when the artist came to school. The children had a fantastic time and this was possible because of the funds raised by you.

Summer Fete
However, the ‘biggest’ of the WRSPA events is yet to come! For many families, it is the favourite event of the year, where the children are able to throw wet sponges at their class mates or win a prize. Parents and grandparents can relax with a coffee and some cake and siblings can play in the toddler area – all within the safety of our own school.

Many families, over the years, have paired up with other families and run a stall for the day – this way the children always have somewhere to bring their ‘loot’ for safe keeping or parents are able to be present without affecting their child’s ‘street cred’! So if you are able to help for the entire day or simply an hour, please sign up on the rota, which will go up in the school foyer in the next few days. Please remember, that without your help, it would be impossible to run these events. There will be a meeting at the Orange Tree pub at 8pm on Wednesday 14th May to discuss the Summer Fete, so please pop in and you can get to know some of the parents who are already involved.

We are also still looking for donations for the Fete so please see the list on the back of this letter and bring in anything you feel you can give. The donation basket can be found in the school foyer.

World Cup Predict-a-score competition
Do you have a prediction for who will win the world cup? Why not enter out World Cup Predict-a- score competition. If you have not received a competition form in your child’s book bag or you would like extra copies, please ask at the school office. Even if you know nothing about football, you could win a cash prize (just ask Mrs Driver!).

Are you able to help with Matched Funding?
In the next year, we will be losing a number of parents, who have been kind enough to claim Matched Funding from their place of work. This has helped boost the funds raised so we are in need of new parents, who may be able to claim this funding. It is something many companies do and costs the employee nothing. If you think you might be able to help, please pop in and see Mrs Driver or feel free to contact me – Suman Henderson 07767 350916.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please let us know. We are always happy to turn your good ideas into events!
