William Ransom 5 – 0 Wilshere Dacre

William Ransom girls’ football team played Wilshere Dacre in the semi-final of the Wix competition tonight. Despite the rain and a chilly wind the girls from both teams were keen to play and the game started enthusiastically.

The first half was full of opportunities for William Ransom to score but the first goal seemed a long time coming! We hit the crossbar, both sides of the post as well as putting the ball wide and over the top, but eventually Rosie did a superb kick from the middle of our goal half, over the heads of all players to score the first goal.

The second goal was set up by Jessica and scored by Annabel on the goal line.

Starting the second half, Wilshere Dacre came out much stronger and their goal keeper saved several attempts from Rosie, Olivia and Rachel. The third goal came after a slight discussion between Jessica and Rachel as to who was going to try for the goal! Rachel finally made the move and scored the third goal.

Jessica scored the fourth goal and after a fantastic save from Lauren to keep a ‘clean sheet’ Rachel scored the fifth and final goal.

A great result that sees William Ransom into the finals against Breachwood Green in the first week or so of next half term, the winner of which then goes forward to the County finals.

Well done to Rosie, Rachel, Lauren, Maddy, Olivia, Evie, Melissa, Jessica and Annabel and good luck in the finals. Thanks also to the parents who transported and supported the girls
