William Ransom 5 – 0 Cockernhoe

This game was scheduled to be played before half term, but with all the snow we have had, it has been put off and postponed several times. It was wonderful to, therefore, to get the game played on a very good pitch, considering the recent weather.

As with Weston, just before half term, Cockernhoe came to WR to try and play football. They looked to pass the ball at every opportunity and had a very strong goalkeeper and defence. We always try and play good football and make as much use of our wide players as possible. Starting in these positions today were Charlie and Harrison, and both boys made excellent runs down the wings. Our captain, Tom, was outstanding today and commanded the midfield, working from box to box. His effort was rewarded with four goals, including a brilliant header from a corner. Reece scored our other goal with a more unusual goal for our teams, the assist coming from Jean-Claude, our ‘keeper!

Leighton and Harry worked very well together, partnering each other for the first time in the absence of Simon, who was off sick. When our two substitutes came on, both were called into action straight away, Ben having to make a save with his first touch of the ball, and Omar playing down the left and making some excellent tackles to ensure we didn’t concede.

Well done to all the boys who took part and thank you to all the parents and Year 6 girls who came along to watch. We will let you know who our opponents are in the final shortly.
