Week 2 and 3 in Year 2

Year 2 have had a busy past two weeks!

They’ve all made excellent progress with learning their joined-up handwriting, completing their homework carefully and being very focussed during handwriting practise.

Both classes went to explore the local area. They created their own maps, plotting on key features as they walked. All of the children were extremely well behaved and worked well together to create accurate maps.

Lots of children have started clubs this half term. Many are developing their hand-eye co-ordination skills in tennis during lunchtime. The gymnasts have also been very enthusiastic about their after-school club, talking about all the new skills they are learning.

Year 2 have also learnt all about colour mixing in Art. They identified the primary colours and then explored all the different colours they could create using blue, yellow and red. Tone and shade were also introduced by using black and white. They were all very excited to see which colours could be created.

Money has been the Maths focus this week. The children have been identifying and ordering coins, adding different amounts and even finding change!

Beware parents: you may be tested on your change knowledge this weekend!

Lots of new things have been learnt in these busy two weeks and Year 2 are looking forward to another exciting week ahead!
