The William Ransom Orbit

Goodness me, what an exciting and busy term we have had!

We have had some fantastic days with Rousseau and Turner in school giving us two wonderful art days, World Book Day provided us with some very interesting characters and lovely literacy work and many classes have been out on some amazing trips.

I was lucky enough to accompany the Year 6 pupils when they went to see The Lion King! For the first time we also attended some workshops to see how hard the performers have to work once they are in a show and we also had a backstage tour. This is always a great trip and this year was certainly no exception.

I have been particularly impressed with the School Council this term. They have put suggestion boxes in all classrooms, they lead us all expertly through the dance for Red Nose Day and they have been monitoring the traffic situation outside school.

The older School Council members went out of school at the beginning and end of the day to observe the traffic situation and make a note of any potential dangers they witnessed. They then wrote a letter which they sent to all parents. I think this way of using ‘Pupil Voice’ is extremely powerful and hopefully people will take more notice of what the children are saying.

Looking ahead now, we have the summer musical – Annie – to look forward to as well as Sports Day and the Year 6 trip to Snowdonia. I expect in no time at all it will be the end of the school year! Oh well, they say time flies when you’re having fun!
