The latest from Lion King rehearsals

We are delighted with the way The Lion King rehearsals have started. Everyone coming along has made a real effort to learn the music and the dance routines we have been working on. The Zulu language has been a real challenge, but thanks to Mr Diop who has given Mrs Driver a few lessons in the African dialect, we are well on the way with some of the more challenging songs!

During the next half term we will learn more of the music and start the process of auditioning for the main parts.

All auditions will be during the school day so that everyone who wants to, will have a chance to come along. We will start with group, open auditions, where pupils will be given something to speak and sing. After this some pupils will be asked to return and sing a longer piece. Following this, pupils will be asked to read and sing certain characters. Hopefully by this time we will have a clear picture of who will suit which character and how their voices will fit. We would like to have the show cast before Easter.

The cast list will show the different groups of animals and everyone will be put into one of the groups. There may be minor characters which will be cast after Easter.

Thank you to everyone who has expressed their excitement about this project and for all the offers of help. Please keep an eye on the website and twitter for any pleas for help!
