The last football match of the season

A friendly against St. Andrews saw both the A and B-teams in action tonight. The B-team was the first to play. With a few changes from the tournament team of last week, it took a while for the boys to start playing as a team. They went 2-0 down and then started to spread out, to use the width of quite a small pitch and start looking to pass the ball. An own goal by a St. Andrews player and a quick goal from Sam put the teams on 2-2 as they went into half time. Hari scored an excellent goal, and Navjot scored as Hari passed the ball across the goal mouth. After conceding another goal Hari scored again to make the final score a 5-3 win to William Ransom.

The A-team had Tyler in goal due to Louix being injured and Tommy in defence to replace Christopher who was not available to play.

The first goal came after a succession of passes as Craig chipped the ball to Oliver who scored. A goal kick from Ben saw Charlie poke the ball into the bottom right hand corner and a third left footed goal came from Charlie before half time. Tyler kept a ‘clean sheet’ after a few excellent saves.

Leighton changed to keeper and Tyler went back into defence in the second half. Charlie scored again after a series of passes from Ben and Oliver and yet another goal as we saw the season’s first goal from a header. Despite Leighton’s great goal keeping, a superb strike from a St. Andrews player meant that he could not boast of a ‘clean sheet’ but the final score was a 5-1 win for William Ransom.

Well done to both teams. Once again some very entertaining football causing lots of gasps from the parents as the ball pinged off the goal post, and keepers and defenders threw themselves around and headed the ball away from danger. Many thanks to the parents for their support.
