The Garden House Hospice Project

Eight children from Year 5 were chosen to take part in The Garden House Hospice Project again this year.

In Week 1, the children met their new patient partners, made name badges for each other, took part in Speed Chatting with Hospice members of staff, listened to a story about coping with worries and had a tour of the Hawthorne Centre, the hospice and the gardens.

In Week 2, they created Death Masks with their patients, listened to a patient reading them a beautiful story about creating memories with an older person, took part in a Germ Fairy Workshop and learned how to wash their hands like doctors.

The children had lots of fun learning about the work the hospice does and created some lovely friendships with their patients. We are hoping to be able to return in the summer term for our final visit to the hospice.
