Reception visit the pantomime

Today Oak and Ash class went to Welwyn Garden City, to the Hawthorne Theatre to see the pantomime, Dick Whittington. Although we had read the story in class there were the usual additional pantomime characters which added new dimensions to the story line.

King Rat was a dastardly baddie and everyone was a little bit scared. The children had been well prepared and talked each other through the scary moments. It was a fantastic production with colourful costumes, excellent scenery and lots of well-known lively songs. There was some great slapstick humour between Sarah the cook and Jack who was her son, aboard a turbulent ship.

The girls all loved the dancing, the fairy and the wedding at the end and the boys enjoyed the fight between Dick and King Rat, where good triumphed over evil.

Photograph opportunities were very restricted at the theatre but we hope that your child enjoyed the experience. There was certainly lots of shouting, cheering and dancing.

Looking ahead to next week, the children have their party on Monday afternoon; please remember to send in the contribution you signed up to provide on Monday morning!

. On Tuesday we have our Christmas lunch and children can wear their Christmas jumpers, waistcoats or T-shirts for the donation of £1 for Save the Children. Then on Wednesday afternoon we have another pantomime, but this one is in school by a small group from the Market Theatre!

May we take this opportunity to wish all of the reception families a very Happy Christmas and best  wishes for the New Year.
