NHSSP Legacy Event

The NHSSP Legacy games saw 37 year 6’s and 3 year 5’s compete against 11 other schools. The event stared with a torch relay and introductions before the children split into groups and were taken to their respective events.

This was a great opportunity to go round and watch the children compete in some new events and I was proud to watch their sportsmanship and the support and encouragement which they gave one another. At an event like this the children need to be trusted to listen politely, to work together and compete in an acceptable way with a minimum of fuss and I am pleased to say that many of our teams were complimented on their exemplary behaviour.

To win some medals at the closing ceremony was a bonus to a thoroughly enjoyable day. Competing as Australia there was a gold in the hockey, silver in the netball and boccia and bronze in the sitting volleyball. The wheelchair basketball lost by 2 points to come 4th in their semi-final and our New Zealand boccia team got a special award as winners of the hoop game.

Well done to all of the children involved and thanks to NHSSP for their organisation and delivery of an enjoyable day for all involved.
