Information from Mrs Driver

Welcome back!
What amazing weather we had over Easter, let’s hope that stays with us for a bit! I hope you all managed to make the most of the weather and had a lovely time! I also hope the good weather stays so we will be able to enjoy a summer term full of all our usual outside activities! There are lots of exciting projects planned for this term and we will keep you up to date with all the events on Twitter and on the school website. Please keep an eye on both of these to find out what is happening. Don’t forget we will also be using Twitter to remind you about club activities. We would also ask that you help us in trying to make your children more independent. Please encourage them to remember all their belongings for school, there shouldn’t be a need for parents to bring in forgotten PE bags!

Live Kitchen
Today we started with our new ‘Live Kitchen’ method for ordering and receiving lunches. As with anything new there are a few teething problems which will hopefully be resolved by tomorrow. It is essential that you have all logged on and opened an account with Live Kitchen; without this you cannot order a lunch for your child. I am assured it is a full proof method as long as you or they order their meals in advance. It appears that some children have ordered one meal on paper under the old system and then ordered differently online. This is one of our current problems which will get resolved. We would ask that you order meals at least 2 weeks in advance online. You cannot order daily. By now you should have already ordered for the first 3 weeks of term so we would ask that you order for the last 2 weeks of this half term by Friday 3rd May. Please make sure your children are aware of what they have ordered. We would be interested in your feedback to pass on to Herts Catering Ltd.

London Marathon
I am pleased to be able to tell you that one of our mothers, Casey Burgess, is running in the London Marathon this coming Sunday. She is raising money for GRIT, the charity we have been working with this year and they are at the forefront of working with teenagers to build resilience. We believe this is a worthwhile cause and if you agree and would like to support her, this is the link to her fundraising page. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Casey-Burgess

Summer Fete and Race Night
Please keep the fete date – 8th June 2019 – firmly fixed in your mind and watch out for the letters coming out asking for different items. The fete is our main fund raising event for the year and we do rely very heavily upon parental involvement. Speak to any member of the SPA if you would like to offer your services on the day! However, before that on Friday 10th May we have a Race Night! This is always a popular event and one guaranteed to be a great night’s entertainment! Then the following day, Saturday 11th May, we are participating in the Joint Schools Summer Fete held on Hitchin Town Market Place. We are running the bowling alley so please come along and support us! It is open from 10.00am – 2.00pm.

Please remember if you have any concerns about your child at school, do not hesitate to come in to see me.

Yours sincerely
Mary Driver
