Information from Mrs Driver

Welcome back!
Hasn’t it been lovely to see some sunshine throughout the holiday? I hope you have all had a lovely time! Hopefully the weather will continue to warm up and we will be able to enjoy a summer term full of all our usual outside activities! There are lots of exciting projects planned for this term and we will keep you up to date with all the events on Twitter and on the school website. Please keep an eye on both of these to find out what is happening. Don’t forget we will also be using Twitter to remind you about club activities. We would also ask that you help us in trying to make your children more independent. Please encourage them to remember all their belongings for school, there shouldn’t be a need for parents to bring in PE bags!

Communication
We are always conscious that parents receive the different communications we send out. Many of you have registered with School Comms and as such should be receiving some letters through email. If we consider the letter important we will also send a hard copy. If you receive newsletters through email, that is great; if you receive a hard copy of the newsletter and would rather receive it by email, please let the school office know. If you feel you haven’t received much from us recently then perhaps we don’t have your up to date email address, please check with the office. If you are still receiving hard copies please check your child’s bag each day to look for any letters.

Name and shame!
Towards the end of last term we had a number of complaints regarding parking outside the school grounds. I have asked for the number plates of cars parked inconsiderately in the hope we can find out who the culprits are!

Summer term
Below this newsletter you will see the dates known so far for the summer term. Please avoid any absences during term time, especially as we have so many public holidays at this time of year.

Summer fete
Please keep the fete date – 10th June 2017 – firmly fixed in your mind and watch out for the letters coming out asking for different items. One of our special events at the fete is the swingboats and roundabouts. We have these inspected for safety purposes on a  regular basis and this coming Saturday – 22nd April, we are looking for a team of strong volunteers to put them up and take them down  for the inspection. If you think you could help please contact Tom Morey on the SPA or let the school office know and we will pass on your details. The fete is our main fund raising event for the year and we do rely very heavily upon parental involvement. Speak to any member of the SPA if you would like to offer your services on the day! However, before that on Saturday 6th May, we are participating in the Joint Schools Summer Fete held on Hitchin Town Market Place. We are running the bowling alley so please come along and support us! It is open from 10.00am – 2.00pm.

Please remember if you have any concerns about your child at school, do not hesitate to come in to see me.

Yours sincerely
Mary Driver
