Enrichment activities
During the week beginning 20th March we are working with Hertfordshire University students to arrange a week on enrichment activities. Each class from Year 1 – Year 6 will have a 2 hour session with them working on outdoor and adventurous activities. We want this to go ahead almost regardless of the weather so ask that on the day your child’s class is involved that they have an pair of trainers which can get muddy, and an outdoor kit which can also get muddy and if needed a waterproof coat which is not too precious!
Monday 20th- Cedar & Cherry
Tuesday 21st- Beech
Wednesday 22nd- Hazel and Maple
Thursday 23rd- Willow & Chestnut
Friday 24th – Pine

Law change for using your mobile phone while driving
FROM THE ROAD SAFETY UNIT AT HCC
It is illegal to use a hand-held phone or similar device while driving, or riding a motorcycle – this is still the case stopped at traffic lights or queuing in traffic. Did you know? It is also illegal to use a hand-held mobile when supervising a learner driver or rider. New penalties now mean that motorists and motorcyclists caught using a phone while driving and riding will receive six penalty points on their licence and a £200 fine. This means that new drivers, within two years of passing their test, run the risk of losing their licence for a single offence. Keep safe – put your phone away in the glove compartment.

Change of dates
At the start of each academic year we try to set our dates for the school year. However, there are times when we are given dates by Herts CC or by Herts for Learning and we are obliged to alter our school dates. One such date is for Open Morning which is now Tuesday 21st March 2017. A separate letter about this will come home tomorrow. I am afraid another date we have had to change is for Sports Day. This is moving from 23rd June to Wednesday 28th June with the reserve date remaining on 30th June. I am sorry we have had to do this but it is out of my control.

Coming up!
There is lots going on in school at the moment. We have a Lacrosse festival here tomorrow which is the start of our defence of the National Title! In the evening we have the Parent Forum to discuss sex & relationship education. We have 2 trips out on Wednesday to Shuttleworth Collection and The Lion King and we are taking part in the County Dance Festival and then on Friday we have the SPA Race Night – last few tickets remaining! As you can tell a very busy week!

Please remember if you have any concerns about your child, do not hesitate to make an appointment to come and see me.

Yours sincerely
Mary Driver
