Information from Mrs Driver

We have now reached the end of an exhausting term and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the support you have offered this term.

Christmas Production
The School performances of ‘What on Earth?’ and The Reception’s ‘A Christmas Tree…t!’ went very well and I am pleased to be able to say that we raised a total of £775 through the charity collections. This is an amazing amount and I thank you all for your generosity. This will be sent off to Keech Hospice which the children chose as the charities they would like to support.

We have taken photographs of the Christmas Production and these will be available in the New Year. If you would like to purchase a CD containing these and many other photos, we will send an order form home next term. The CD will be sold at cost, this is not intended as a money making exercise. However, please check with your child that they were in school the day the photographs were taken!

November INSET and Occasional Days
Some parents have enquired about INSET and Occasional Days next November. We have provisionally booked the 24th and 27th November 2017 as days for the school to close. These dates have to be provisional in case the government or local authority set INSET dates for us with a new initiative.

Uniform
Please use the Christmas break as an ideal time to stocktake on your child’s uniform. Please ensure all main items are named, we still have a number of jumpers in lost property, all un- named! The uniform shop will be held on 9th January, 6th February and the 6th March. This is also a great time to have children’s hair cut. Please follow guidelines on the website. We would also ask that no girls return wearing earrings. This follows guidance from Herts County Council Health & Safety, who also agree that earrings can be removed 6 weeks after piercing.

Christmas Lunch
We had a wonderful Christmas Lunch yesterday and everyone looked great in their Christmas tops! We managed to raise £201 for Save the Children so thank you to everyone who took part.

The SPA
The SPA have had another highly successful term, raising well over £5000! This includes the recent sale of Christmas Puddings and Christmas baubles. Thank you to everyone who has supported their work this term. Next event is a Family Bingo Night on Friday 27th January; look out for information at the start of next term. Following on from the great success last year, there will be another Race Night on March 17th 2017. Lots to look forward to!

Great news from The Wheat Household!
Elizabeth Rose Wheat was born on Friday 9th December weighing 7lbs 9oz. Mother & baby both doing well!

The Orbit
I hope you were as impressed as I was with ‘The Orbit’ –The William Ransom Newspaper! It is a wonderful piece of work and I must congratulate the children involved for all their hard work. I would also like to thank Alison Stephenson and Liz Thorn for all their work in organising it and putting it all together. You will have seen that this edition was sponsored by Mrs Brown, for which we are very grateful. It certainly added to the quality of the newspaper. If you think you or your company might like to sponsor a future edition, please contact Alison through the school. Read the latest issue HERE.

Back to school
As a reminder the children will be returning to school on Thursday 5th January 2017. All instrumental lessons will start week commencing the 9th January. The children will be told when any extra-curricular activities will start.

Lollipop lady
Our lovely lollipop lady will not be on duty on 5th & 6th January. Please take extra care!

Please remember if there is anything you would like to discuss to make an appointment to come in and see me!

Thank you for all your good wishes at the start of this festive Season and on behalf of everyone at William Ransom, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Yours sincerely
Mary Driver
