Information from Mrs Driver

Dear Parents,

Thank you for all the support for our Walk in Aid of Spinal Research. We were lucky with the weather and had a fantastic afternoon. I hope you enjoyed all the photographs on Twitter and on the website. All together we managed to walk 510 miles and so far we have raised £620 to send to Claire Lomas to add to her fund raising efforts. Thank you for supporting us in this venture.

Now that we are experiencing some better weather, could I remind you all that pupils need to bring their coats every day? The school field is quite exposed and there are times it gets breezy and the weather is known to change. It is much easier for us if everyone has a coat with them in case it is needed. We are unable to apply sun cream so please ensure children are covered before they come to school. They may wear sunhats as long as they are suitable! Please ensure ALL items of uniform are named. One red jumper looks very much the same as any other! And please keep renewing the names – they do wash off easily!

If we have an inhaler in school for your child, please make sure you have signed the necessary forms and that all medication is ‘in-date’.

Don’t forget the online survey for parents. Letters have gone home and I would urge you all to participate. It is important to us to know your views. All returns are completely anonymous and NFER will analyse the data and send us a written report.

Thank you to those of you who helped with the swingboats and roundabouts. I am delighted to say that all the equipment passed its safety check!

We do send out regular reminders about the fact we are a ‘nut free’ environment and it is extremely important that everyone adheres to this. We have children in school with severe nut allergies and the best prevention is to have NO nuts in school at all. This includes birthday sweets, cakes for events and especially packed lunches on school trips. The staff have recently updated their ‘epi-pen’ training but would rather not have to use it!

We are currently advertising for a school cleaner. If you know of anyone who might be interested please ask them to contact the school to speak to Mr Burrows. We would also like to increase our bank of mid-day supervisory assistants. Again if you know of anyone who might be interested please ask them to contact the school.

Please remember that the school is closed on Monday 6th May for the Bank Holiday so I hope you all have a lovely long weekend and that you enjoy the sunshine.

Yours sincerely

Mary Driver
