How many Shoeboxes did we collect?

For the eighth year in succession the school has got involved in Smile International’s Shoebox appeal.

Smile International distribute Shoebox Christmas Presents to children in need regardless of gender, race, nationality or religious belief. They have been sending shoeboxes to disadvantaged children since 2001. A shoebox full of gifts means such a lot to the children they work with. In many instances this will be the only present the child receives and so they are very much treasured – including the colourful boxes! The boxes will go to children in villages, schools, orphanages, refugee centres and Roma camps in different countries around the world.

Reverend Andrew Henton-Pusey from Walsworth Baptist Church introduced us to the project and he still comes into school every year to introduce the project to the children and then to collect all the shoeboxes we have collected.

This year we were delighted to collect an amazing 159 shoeboxes and we would like to say a great big THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to the collection. Every single shoebox will go to child in need and it will certainly help to give them a wonderful Christmas!
