Heart Pumping Science

The Year 5/6 classes have been getting their hands dirty and their heart rates elevated – all in the name of science.

The Circulatory System is our unit and the children have been learning all about blood, blood vessels and the heart. They have listened to their own heart beats, made an accurate clay model of the heart with the aorta and pulmonary vein as well as learning the names of the chambers and importantly which side does what!

The children then went on to learn about the processes of osmosis and diffusion – using skittles and jelly snakes. (It was science and not a sweet shop – honest!)

The classes have shown their excellent knowledge of the body, but have enjoyed using the correct scientific language.

Well done Cherry, Chestnut and Rowan. Keep up the great work.
