The girls played against Samuel Lucas in the Hitchin Schools final round of the Wix Cup.The game was played in a great spirit of friendly rivalry. An early goal from Rachel as she took the ball through the Samuel Lucas defence put William Ransom into attacking mode.The seond and third goals were also scored by Rachel but with much better passing and communication between the team. Lauren D made a great save from a high ball as she jumped and tipped it over the crossbar.
The second half saw Samuel Lucas come out and really attack the ball and the defence had some hard work to do. Rebecca made a great job of organising the back line, before Rachel received a good ball which she put into the bottom corner of the net. Catherine played her best football of the season and Ella, Rhea, Zoe and Lauren P really got involved in the game. Annabel. who had played some really strong football and headed the ball five times, was not to be outdone as she took the ball on a solo run and scored minutes before full time to make the final score 5-0 to William Ransom.
Well done girls after a good few weeks with no games or practices. The next round will be in St. Albans before half term if the format is the same as last year. I will let you know where and when and fingers crossed for no clashes!
