Girls’ football team in the top four in Hertfordshire

Yesterday evening the girls travelled to St. Albans to play their semi-final game against Cunningham Hill at Clarence Park, home of St. Albans City FC.

The girls had a very professional start to their game emerging from the tunnel into the brilliant evening sunshine. It was clear from the onset that Cunningham Hill was an experienced team. Their passing up and down the pitch always looked to turn the ball into space and they always seemed to know where their team mates would be. However the William Ransom girls did not make life easy for them. Lauren’s six amazing saves and a great shot from Rosie which went just wide of the goal were the hi-lights of the first half. Cunningham Hill only managing to put one goal past Lauren and into the back of the net just before half time.

The second half saw a positive start by both teams and two early saves by Lauren were very gratifying. An unfortunate own goal put Cunningham Hill 2-0 up and they continued to put on the pressure, hitting the post and then scoring a third goal which was unstoppable. William Ransom continued to defend admirably and did well to hold Cunningham hill their 3-0 win.

The girls want to thank their parents for their support and endurance of all weathers throughout the season. We hope that the three year five girls will recruit some of their friends and we can start football again in September.
