Girls’ ESFA football Rally

The Girls’ ESFA rally was held after school today at Wilshere Dacre School. Each team had to play three games in their group. The games were only eight minutes each way but all teams were eager to play football.

The William Ransom girls played their first game against Breachwood Green, where a kick from the keeper went straight to Rachel who finished well with her left foot to give them a 1-0 win.

The second game against St Ippolyts saw Annabel make the most of some defensive confusion and score at short range and shortly after Rachel won the ball from a defender and finished cleanly, giving William Ransom a 2-0 win.

The third game in the group against Mary Exton saw lots of tries on goal, the first ‘header’ of the game from Annabel and Rachel scoring as she too made the most of another bout of goalmouth confusion.

The semi-final against Purwell saw a 2-0 win as Rachel scored after a solo effort from the half way line and Annabel scored from a superb pass from Rachel.

The final against Samuel Lucas was a hard fought game with many tries on goal and eventually a minute into extra time Annabel struck the ball hard and found a gap in the defence to give a 1-0 win. Thank goodness no penalty shoot out!

The girls go through to the next round which is usually played on a Saturday in November. The date will go out as soon as it is known. Once again thanks to all parents and the girls’ coach for supporting and a big well done to everyone who played.
