From the Head

2012 is definitely a year of celebrations! As we start the summer term we also celebrate the 40th anniversary of the school. The William Ransom Primary School opened its doors on 19th April 1972 with just 29 pupils so this term we have a host of events to celebrate. You have all seen the new school tie for key stage 2 pupils, chosen by the school council, which looks great! We are holding a tea party on the school field, weather permitting, on the 20th April and there will be an Open Afternoon for ex-pupils and ex-parents to see the school ‘in action’ on 6th July. So watch out for more details and photographs of these events.

Of course we will also be celebrating The Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen after half term as well as taking part in a range of activities celebrating the 2012 Olympics. The SPA is also going to be extremely busy organising various events through the summer term. We have a Fashion Show on Wednesday 25th April with a wide range of day and evening wear from TKMax and then the main event of the year is the summer fete. This is a week later than usual so make sure you keep the date free – Saturday 16th June! Before those two events we are also participating in the Hitchin Schools’ Joint Fete on Saturday April 21st in Hitchin Market Square. Come along and try your arm at bowling!

As well as all the usual work covered in the summer term we already know of some exciting sporting fixtures – mainly The National Lacrosse Finals on Sunday 17th June in Hatfield. We have reached the finals for the ninth year in succession and are defending our title for the second year in succession. Good luck to all the Lacrosse team and to Mr Mills and Mrs Light! I am sure it will be a great occasion.

I look forward to welcoming you into school for one of our events during the summer term but please remember in the meantime if you have any concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.
