Open Morning

School will be open on Wednesday 22nd January for parents to join us to ‘see us in action’. Obviously, it can only give you a small idea of what we do in school on a daily basis, but it does help you to understand what happens in school.

Open morning will start at 9.00 am for all classes, once all the classes are settled, except for Oak and Ash. These pupils need longer to settle in the morning so we would ask that no-one goes to visit these classes until 9.15am. I am sure you will all appreciate the need for this.

A normal timetable will be followed so teachers will not be able to discuss individual children’s progress but parents will be very welcome to sit in on all lessons, and look at the displays of work in and around class areas. I would ask that you use discretion regarding the number of parents in any one room at any one time also if a class is changing for PE then I would ask that all parents leave the room.

There will be a singing assembly from 9:55 to 10:15 when all children will be in the hall. Parents are welcome to attend.

Break time is from 10.15 to 10.35am when the children will be outside but refreshments will be available in the dining room. We would ask that parents do not go out onto the playground.

This will be a busy morning. You will obviously want to see your own child / children working, but the purpose of the Open Morning is to offer you the opportunity to visit all classes in the school and not to spend all morning in one classroom. This is also an opportunity to obtain a clearer perspective of what we are aiming to provide and the standards children should be aiming to attain.

The taking of photographs and videos is forbidden.

I would ask that you tell your child that you are coming and that they should be encouraged to continue in as normal a manner as possible in order that you may have an enjoyable and informative visit without disruption to your child. We understand completely that some parents are unable to attend due to work commitments.

When you arrive would you kindly register the fact that you are in the School by signing a sheet in the Dining Room and crossing your name out when you leave. We will give you a visitor’s badge to wear. The morning will end at 11.45 a.m. in order that we can have a calm and settled end to the morning. However, there is no expectation that you need to be in school all morning.

If you would like to talk to us about educational matters we would be delighted to meet with you. I will be around during the morning or we can arrange another convenient time, as will the teachers, for any after school appointment.

The staff and I very much look forward to welcoming you to School on the 22nd January.
