End of Week 5

Dear Parents
I have had a lovely week joining as many classes as I can for their zoom meetings! It was great to see all the happy faces and to hear the children’s news. I hope to see the rest of the classes next week so I feel I have had an insight into what is going on! As I said last week I do have the chance to look at all school work through Google Classroom and it really is lovely to see the work that gets turned in and to feel the enthusiasm with which some of it was done.
If we had been in school next week it would have been Feeling Good Week for the children at the top of the school and I think it is important that we don’t forget all about it. We have sent you different links about children’s mental health awareness and different ways to be creative through Twitter and I would continue to urge you and your child to have time away from your devices and have a screen free afternoon!

Tuesday 9th February is Internet Safety Day which is possibly more important this year than any other. I will do a whole school assembly for Monday which will remind the children about sharing their details and chatting to people they don’t know online. This will be available to everyone on the school website. There are some excellent resources on the internet to promote internet safety and they will support the work previously done in school. This is just one such internet site: https://www.saferinternet.org.uk/advice-centre/young-people/resources-3-11s

Please make sure you are monitoring your child’s use of the internet. Without meaning to, your child can reach an unsavoury site from You Tube within 3 clicks!
As we are approaching half term, we thought it would be useful to know your thoughts on our home learning provision. We have put together a survey which can be accessed on the following link and we ask that it is completed by midday on Wednesday 10th February 2021. Please complete a form for each of the children you have with us at William Ransom. We will feedback our findings after half term.

We have had some lovely offers from people to support children with home learning devices, so thank you for these. If you are struggling with a device for your child, as I have said before, please contact me and we can see if we can help you.
It looks like we might see a bit of snow at the weekend so make the most of it and have fun outside, socially distancing of course!

Stay safe and well,
Kind regards
Mary Driver
