Aliens in reception this week

The last week of learning about space and we ventured into alien territory. Making our own aliens was a fun activity and a chance to let the imagination run riot! Story writing on ‘Fun Writing Friday’ the reception version of ‘The Big Write’ held its usual magic as the children settled down to write their own stories.

Next week is very busy as we start to learn about the seaside and think ahead to holidays. Monday morning we are walking down to Walsworth Baptist Church with a class 5/6D partner to see the artwork on the theme of ‘Peace Channel’. It will be interesting to see what other schools managed to produce and see if we can spot our own works of art!

Next Thursday the Key Stage One classes are holding a Sainsbury’s sports festival day. The children will be mixed into ten teams with reception, year one and year two children in each team and will compete in a variety of activities throughout the day to earn house points, stickers and certificates. Fingers crossed for good weather!

Advanced warning that on Monday 13th we are having a pirate day. The children who want to dress as a pirate can bring in £1 to donate towards Samali our sponsored child in Africa and we will have a fun day of pirating! Costumes do not need to be elaborate and we will not be having any weapons as we do not want full scale warfare!

Please return all library books and any resources that have been borrowed and belong to the reception class. Try and remember your child’s hats, sun cream and water as we try to keep your child safe and hydrated during the warm summer days at school.
