Willow Class thoroughly enjoyed learning about all about Vikings today in our Viking workshop. Everyone very much looked the part and certainly got into character for the day!

Our Viking guide told us about many aspects of Viking life; from home life to how they travelled around the world. The children also had the opportunity to look at and handle Viking artefacts; it was tricky at times to guess what some items were used for and what they were made from. We had to imagine what it might have been like to live in those times and then think about the resources that the Vikings might have had available.

The afternoon session was all about preparing to be a Viking Warrior. We learned about the many weapons that they used and protective clothing that they wore, took part in warrior training and finished off with some extremely fierce (and noisy) Viking battle drills. We had a fantastic day being emerged in Viking life but we were all quite divided about whether we would actually have liked to have lived in those times!
