Year 6 arrive in North Wales

Returning to Tan-y-Bwlch for the 14th year is like coming home!

William Ransom are always greeted like old friends and after a long 6 hours journey it is always a welcome sight!

Walking through the grounds of the Plas last night we all got acquainted with the area before a spot of work and then retiring to bed!

Everyone was fast asleep soon after lights out and we were all treated to an uninterrupted night’s sleep – Bliss!!!

The rain and wind were wild when we woke this morning so we all wrapped up well to be prepared for our day on the mountain!

We were extremely lucky and although it poured whilst we were on the coach, by the time we got to Pen y Pass the rain had eased and we managed the majority of the walk in the dry!

It was an amazing experience, particularly for those children who had never walked on mountains! It was a tough climb and everyone had to concentrate on keeping their footing. We climbed right up to Llyn Glaslyn, the highest lake on Snowdon and admired the fantastic views. However, we could see the weather coming in and so we set off down the mountain  back to the coach!

Back at The Plas everyone had a chance to dry off and warm up before writing postcards home. We will post them tomorrow so hopefully they will get to you before we do!

This evening was spent learning all about the Snowdonia National Park from Mr Williams, then it was bedtime drinks and off to bed. The house is silent as I write this, which is a good sign, so let’s hope for another peaceful night and another exciting day tomorrow!

  • In the grounds the first evening

  • A few last minute instructions before we set off up the mountain!

  • After a steep climb it's nice to have a sit down!

  • Mr Williams is telling us all about the Victorian Copper Miners!

  • The scenery was amazing!

  • The waterfalls were very full from all the rain!
