The William Ransom Orbit

I can’t believe I am writing my piece for the Orbit for the end of the first term – where has the time gone?

As always the Autumn Term is a busy one with lots of events taking place in and out of school. There have been lots of Sporting Events going on and lots of other ways for people to get involved in community events.

Our Values this term have been Respect and Tolerance and I think these have been embedded in much of the work we have done across the school. I would like to think everyone treats one another with respect, although I fear there are times when this is forgotten. Not only is respect one of our values, it is a school rule and part of our school motto. It really is the most important word in school.

Tolerance is also important as it emphasises how we should work together and see past any differences. All of us are individuals and as such we have the right to be different and to express ourselves in different ways. Understanding these differences and one another is fundamental to the way we should be living and to the way we would like the school to run.

I have been very proud of the children who have wanted to get involved in climate discussions and those who have joined The Eco Team. This is such an important issue and is really much more about your future. Reducing the amount of single use plastics is essential and recycling has to become a way of life. I think we’re quite good in school but I think we could be better. This needs to be a focus for us all in 2020.

As I walk around the school I have heard you all rehearsing for your Christmas performances and they all sound very exciting. This is my favourite time of year in school, everyone working together to put on great shows and the sound of Christmas music lling the school. There is only one problem... I haven’t heard Hams and Yams ....yet!
