Newsletter from The William Ransom Golf Society

Are you a golfer with a handicap, or a beginner looking to improve your golf game as a New Years' resolution?

Do you know that parents from the School have formed their own Golf Society which holds golf days, matchplay competitions and a weekend away trip every year?

Do you want to know more about its plans for 2013?

If you are interested, you can find out more about the Society at its website - williamransomgolfsociety.wordpress.com It costs a one-off fee of 25 to join, which includes a Society t-shirt to use at golf days.

The Society's first golf day is to be held at East Herts Golf Club on 14 March 2013, costing 48 for 27 holes golf, plus lunch and a contribution towards prizes.

If you have an official golf handicap and a competitive spirit, you can also take part in the Society Matchplay knockout competition 2013, if you join before the end of February.

Would you like to join, and bring your golfing friends with you, or try it out first and meet some of the Society members informally?

Please email this year's captain, Michael Coogan, at m_coogan@sky.com to arrange to join or to play a round over the next few weeks (when the weather has improved!).

Newcomers are very welcome as the Society is keen to reinforce its links to the School though a regular flow of new parents into membership. When the Society was first formed there were many "genuine" 28 handicappers in membership, and the Society continues to cater for players of all standards.

Finally, there is also a financial benefit to the School in supporting the Society as part of the money collected from events each year is given as a donation towards School activities.
