The William Ransom Orbit

“Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away!”

Many of you know that Dr Seuss is my favourite author, not just for children, I believe he has many messages for us all. As we reach the end of another year his book ‘Oh The Places You’ll Go!’ always comes to mind. It is a book about moving on and growing up and being whoever you want to be; and that is the case for all of you!

If we think back over the year and all the exciting things we have done, all the experiences that have been offered to you help you to choose what you want to be in life. There have been lots of new things this year:

A whole new building to move into and to make work for us, we have had new teachers that you have had to get used to and they have had to get used to you! We have had a whole new environment outside which we have had to make work for us and we have had 60 new children join the school. They are almost at the end of their first year and are ready to move on, as are the Year 6, ready to move on to Secondary School. But all of you are ready to move onto the next class.

There have been lots of new and exciting things to think about. Just this term we have got back onto the school field after 18 months, which has been lovely. I think everyone is delighted with the new playground markings, don’t they look great! It was quite ambitious taking everyone from Year 1 to Year 5 on the train to Letchworth to see Horrible Histories but I think everyone felt it was a great success! Now we are looking forward to using our new stage area for the KS2 performance of Madagascar! This is another ambitious show, with catchy music and hopefully some great performances – I can’t wait.

I hope you all have a lovely summer break, good luck to our Year 6 pupils as they move on, and I look forward to seeing the rest of you back here in September.

“You’re off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting,
So... get on your way!”
